Borobudur temple is a Buddhist temple, situated at 40 km north of Yogyakarta, 7 km south of the city of Magelang, precisely in the village of Borobudur Magelang regency, Central Java, Indonesia. The name Borobudur is a combination of words and Budur Bara. Bara from Sanskrit means temple or monastery complex. While Budur derived from the word meaning beduhur above, thereby Borobudur means monastery on the hill. Borobudur Temple has 10 levels, measuring 123 x 123 meters.
Borobudur temple has 1460 relief panels and 504 Buddha effigies in the complex. Six lowest level of a square and three levels on top of a circle and one of the highest levels of Buddhist stupa facing to the west. in addition to being a bustling tourist attraction visited, also a center of worship for Buddhists in Indonesia, especially on every Vesak celebration. Borobudur Temple is a place where tourism is already famous around the world. Many local and foreign tourists who visit here. Borobudur Temple is designated as World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
